Prof. Dr. Moritz Schularick receives a Leibniz Prize

Prof. Dr. Moritz Schularick receives the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, which is endowed with 2.5 million euros, for his excellent research achievements. The German Research Foundation (DFG) made the announcement today. As Director of the MacroFinane Lab and Principal Investigator for the University of Bonn’s Cluster of Excellence, ECONtribute, his research on financial market stability, inequality and economic history receives great resonance beyond his academic work. Labor market analyzed: New season of the ECONtribute economics podcast (in German)

Just in time for the new year, the ECONtribute economics podcast enters its fourth round, this time on the topic of "work": labor market policy intervenes deeply in the individual concerns of citizens, not only on securing livelihoods, but also on social participation, recognition and personal fulfillment. Alumni Online: "The forgotten Coast: Archeology in Honduras" on January 25th, 7 p.m. (digital tour with Prof. Dr. Markus Reindel, in German)

Using the example of the "Guadalupe" project, the exhibition shows the diversity of cultures on the Caribbean coast of Honduras and at the same time the working methods of modern archaeology. The ongoing project "Guadalupe" is an international cooperation of the German Archaeological Institute with the Museum Rietberg (Zurich), the SLSA (the Swiss-Liechtenstein Foundation for Archaeological Research Abroad), the Universities of Bonn and Zurich as well as with institutions and scientists on site in Honduras. 29.01.2022, 10 a.m.: Digital Science Rallye (in German)
Students from the age of 13 are invited to take part in a digital science rallye and explore different fields of science at virtual booths. Participation is free of charge, but participants need to register until January 26th, 2021. Please note that the event will be held in German. Read more

forsch - now available in English!

The winter issue of the university magazine forsch is now available! Read an in-depth report on employee and university engagement after the heavy rain disaster in summer: how people experienced the flood, which helping hands removed the mud from homes and streets, how employees donated part of their salary and supported each other.

Another theme is networking: virtual reality used in teaching, connections between media makers and students, and the networking of Maya researchers.In addition, the issue focuses on sustainability: the new Prorectorate for Sustainability initiates networking of all actors working on sustainability and fair trade at the university.
